In this toughest, most uncertain economy since the Great Depression, 2011 is no time to go it alone on the job – without a strong contract a powerful union to make certain employers honor their part of the bargain.

That’s why America’s unions grew by almost 500,000 workers between 2008 and 2010. And why more than 100,000 of those newly organized workers are Teamsters.

Thanks to the “mighty army” of trained organizers General President Jim Hoffa is sending to locals and Joint Councils across the country, Teamster officers, business agents and rank and file members are honing the skills they need to help working workers ‘from A to Z – from airline pilots to zoo keepers’- join the 1.4 million men and women who make up our great union.

Here at Local 638, we’ve recently organized and welcomed several hundred First Student school bus drivers to our ranks as part of a national Teamster.

campaign to give the folks who drive our kids to and from school the dignity and security that only a union contract can provide.
